Advertisement Types

126 models sounds like a lot, but underneath there are only 6 real kinds. The rest are different shapes of the same idea. Explained like you're five.

The 6 real kinds

KIND 1

Posters on your wall

Display, video and audio ads

Your website is a lemonade stand. A company pays you to hang their poster on it. Banners, pop-ups, video ads and sticky ads are all posters. They differ only in size, place and whether they wiggle.

KIND 2

“My friend sells good stuff, and I get a cookie”

Affiliate

You say “these crayons are great!” and give a special link. If someone buys them, the crayon shop gives you a cookie. You get nothing if nobody buys.

KIND 3

Someone sponsors you, like a team shirt

Sponsorship and native ads

A company says “we'll pay you to say we're awesome” or “put our name on your stand”. It looks like part of your stuff instead of a poster. Sponsored posts, newsletter sponsors and podcast sponsors are all this.

Families 4, 7, and 8
KIND 4

A bulletin board for rent

Listings

People pay to put their note at the top of your board. Examples are job boards, directories and “featured” spots.

Family 9
KIND 5

Selling things you learn or collect

Data and traffic

You sell the names of people who asked for something (“these kids love dinosaurs”), or you send visitors to another shop and they pay you for the trip.

KIND 6

Playing for prizes

Interactive and rewards

“Watch this short video and get a free coin” or “play this game and win a sticker”. The visitor gets a treat and the company gets attention.

Family 10

Two smaller kinds

Link renting

SEO placements

You're paid to put a link to someone's shop on your page. It's sneaky and often against the rules, so it's risky.

New and weird

AI ads, creators

Things like ads inside a chatbot's answers. They're new and change fast.

How you get paid (not a kind, just counting)

This is family 1, the 15 “pricing models”. The same poster can be paid in different ways.

Per look
A coin each time someone sees it (CPM)
Per poke
A coin each time someone clicks (CPC)
Per buy
A coin only when someone buys (CPA)
Flat fee
One big coin for a month

So “126 types” is really: about 6 kinds, times a few shapes, times a few ways of counting coins.
